About Me

I am Shannon Young BSN, RN.  I was born in Idaho and with the exception of being a foreign exchange student to Japan and Germany, I have lived here all of my life. After graduating from high school, I went to surgical tech school and worked at a local hospital as a surgical tech for 20 years.  I then returned to college and graduated with my Bachelors of Nursing degree from NNU.  I currently work as an Operating Room nurse full time at the VA hospital.   After working in healthcare for almost four decades, I felt it was time to follow my dream and add something fun to my portfolio.  I discovered my love for quilting and sewing late in life, even though I came from a long line of seamstresses in my mom and grandma.

A friend took me to my first quilt store several years ago, and a fabric monster was born.  I thought to myself “Where has this been all my life?”  At the time I had no idea that there were so many fabric choices or colors, it was quite overwhelming.  My life and checkbook were forever changed that day and I haven’t looked back.  I learned quickly that no project was too difficult, that is why seam rippers were created!

Since discovering fabric, I have managed to ‘lure’ many of my friends and family members into quilting. We get together weekly for sewing and share many laughs. So my love of fabric, quilting, and fun has led me to starting my online quilt store, Stitch n Giggles, with my dream of having a retail store soon.  I hope you all will join me on this fun adventure!  If there is anything that you would like to see on the website, just let me know at info@stitchngiggles.com.

Check back often for new arrivals, current projects and events, patterns and fabrics!

Happy Stitching to you,

Shannon
